User Management Settings

User Management settings are located in the Admin Portal. Browse to the Account Info Mega Menu, then select Subaccount Admin. Click the User Management link.

Enter the following information:

  • User Management URL. The location of the user management directory, or location of the JPost Local or new form system local. Changing the User Management URL may adversely affect the secure function of the user management system, resulting in lost sales or chargebacks. Please email Merchant Support prior to making this change.
  • System Type. Select the install type. Transaction processing works with either Windows or UNIX based operating systems. CCBill maintains the passwords and processes the transactions for the server. The following options are available:
    • UNIX. The Internet server is UNIX based.
    • Windows CGI. Use a Windows based CGI such as Perl.
    • Windows ASP. Use ASP on Windows.
  • Encryption Type. The type of data encryption used. It is usually dependent on the system type and is the basis of security. There are two types of data encryption (i.e., UNIX standard or none).
    • Standard. UNIX encryption methodology.
    • None. Windows does not use encryption. Passwords are plain text.
  • Satellite Locations. Allows you to choose a server geographically close to you for User Management posts. This can make posts both faster and less likely to fail. Available servers and IP Addresses are:
    • Phoenix, AZ. 64.38.241
    • Ashburn, VA. 64.38.212
    • Amsterdam, the Netherlands. 64.38.215

Before making your selection you need to properly configure the IP Addresses that you receive posts from in your own system to allow posts from our IP Addresses and prevent post failure. If you are not sure how to do this or would like assistance, please contact Merchant support.

IMPORTANT: FAILURE TO CONFIGURE IP ADDRESS SECURITY CAN RESULT IN FAILED USER MANAGEMENT REQUESTS AND CAUSE CONSUMER ACCESS ISSUES AND OTHER PROBLEMS THAT CAN NEGATIVELY IMPACT YOUR BUSINESS.

Changing Username and Password Lengths - Username Settings

The Username Settings area allows you to specify how to control the usernames and passwords for the customer.

In the Username Type drop-down menu, choose one of three different ways to control how the members/customers are authenticated, i.e., User Defined, Stored, or Random.

  • Username Type. This specifies the system to use for authentication of the members/ customers.
    • User Defined. You enter the authentication data. The members/ customers choose unique usernames and passwords for their individual use. CCBill ensures that no identical usernames and passwords are issued.
    • Stored. You upload a library of specific usernames and passwords. CCBill assigns them individually to the members/ consumers. CCBill needs to have an E-mail address to communicate when to upload additional authentication data. For example, if the library is down to 2000 names/ passwords, CCBill will relay a message by email informing you that it is time for the authentication data upload.
    • Random. Unique usernames and passwords are generated automatically for customers. The username and password will display on the Approval page and in an email sent to the consumer and merchant.

The following is available ONLY when "User Defined" is selected in the Username Type Field:

  • Collect Username and Password. Specifies the way to allow the customer to enter or view the authentication information. The following options are available for Collect Username/ Password:
    • Show Username and Password Text Fields. Allows the customer to enter both the username and password for authentication.
    • Show Username Text Field, Display Password. Allows the customer to enter the username and to view the password but not change it.
    • Display Username and Password. Allows the customer to view the username and password but not to change them.
    • Hide both Username and Password. Do not allow the customer to view the username and password.
    • Display Username, Hide Password. Allows the customer to view but not change the username. The password is concealed.
    • Display Username, Show Password Text Field. Allows the customer to view but not change the username and to enter the password.
  • Min. Username Length. Lets you specify the minimum number of characters for the username.*
  • Max. Username Length. Lets you specify the maximum number of characters for the username.*
  • Min. User Password Length. Lets you specify the minimum number of characters for the password.*
  • Max. User Password Length. Lets you specify the maximum number of characters for the password.*

The minimum and maximum length of the authentication data entered by the members/ customers are customizable. You can choose a number from 4 to 16 for the username and password fields.

Available Scripts for Integration

We have the ability to integrate with multiple server types and configurations. Our Merchant Support Group is here to help determine what type of configuration will work best for you and your needs.

User Management Script Editing

You may edit the script if you wish. If we notice that the script is not working properly, however, our standard course is to rebuild the script without the modifications, which could cause issues. Be sure to keep records of the changes you've made in case you need them again later.
